News is never a 9 to 5 job.
Wednesday evening, with the news that Apple visionary Steve Jobs had passed away from pancreatic cancer, TIME managing editor Rick Stengel (center) decided to stop the presses on the issue the staff had just finished earlier that afternoon. Staff members poured back into the TIME offices for an emergency edit meeting, which left us just over three hours to produce a new issue, many of us working on the very Apple devices that Jobs created.
Thursday, we’ll announce our latest issue featuring Jobs on the cover for the eighth time.
I’m gonna buy this issue.
Ah Apple… love, hate, love, hate, … this is the kind of thing I have to love about Apple.
Apple’s New Fifth-Avenue Cube Uses Just 15 Giant Sheets of Glass
“Apple, famous for pushing materials to their limits in order to make ridiculously thin and strong gadgets, is doing the same for its flagship Fifth Avenue store in New York City. A remodel of the already perfectly good design will see the amount of glass panels of the iconic cube reduced from 90 panes to just 15.”
this is what makes Apple such a special brand, they just push limits that don’t need to be pushed
I was reading about this but couldnt find a good pic of it. This will be sweet.
I want to ride in a car like this :)
o.m.g. yes yes yes. im geeking out and nerdgasming at the same time.

Do you know what it’s like to sit on the edge of your chair, literally watching what could be the last few years of countless hours of work go down the drain? That is what WWDC 2011 was for me. I would have rather been rammed below the belt with a wrecking ball than to have that feeling happen again. Within minuets of unveiling iCloud, Apple literally raped, ravished, and slaughtered tons of companies.. Don’t believe me?

So let’s throw it out there:
Apple announced their new iCloud service today, which included a major emphasis on their “iTunes Cloud”. I was very surprised at the announcement today. Maybe I was just stressing too much, but the consumer side of me after Jobs left the stage was like “That’s it?!”. I was not that impressed, but I think I was expecting more. Don’t get me wrong, the syncing features of what they announced today look AMAZING (and frankly long overdue). But where are the big features? It is awesome that they have nailed the syncing between multiple devices though. That is a huge hit!
Another big hit for apple is that they were able to not only offer syncing capabililties for music between all of you “iDevices”, they were able to do the same with documents and pictures (some limits do apply).
It would be ignorant of me not to acknowledge the fact that Apple, Google, and Amazon are all working hard on their cloud services. Because TuneVault is in “stealth mode” (like many other startups these days) it is tough to speak on our future plans. What I can say is we were here first, and definitely plan to stick around for awhile.
The good-
If anything, this just reinforces that my idea is a great one and that people are needing it. It gives me some great consumer validity to go by. I also still have a little pride with the fact that 2 years ago I was the first person to launch the ONLY specifically designed music backup/cloud player site in the world. I was onto this years ago, and to see that the market is finally ready really means a lot. My inclinations were correct.
The Bad-
Well lets be real here… These are some heavy hitters in the music and technology realm. It is going to be tough to compete with them. They have brand power, image, reputation, money, connections, and amazing leaders and employees (many of which who I actually look up to and admire). This just really puts the pressure on me to bang some stuff out over the next few months.
What now?
Well I need to hustle even harder. I am currently trying to raise $250k by August, so I need to step my game up. In order to be remotely considered as competition, TuneVault has to get a few things done. We are already building and exploring more features that add value to our service. Some of our current features that still put us ahead of these other companies are: our web based cloud player.

I believe that the web based player is one of the most valuable features because people can play their music from any computer with an updated/supported browser and an internet connection from anywhere in the world!
There are also some things we really need to work on though…Some of those include (but are not limited to): support for other media types, , a major update to our software application that will include some killer features, and the biggest of all is to crank out an iPhone Application. For TuneVault to even be remotely considered a contender in this space, we are really going to have to step things up. Overall, I am very relieved with the outcome of today’s event, and am even more excited to continue to develop TuneVault.
I would have gone more indepth with links, more pics, and descriptions but it is getting late, I’ve been up since 5am this morning. On top of that I still have to pack, do laundry, and make a wal-mart run before leaving for a trip tomorrow. Please leave any comments or questions and I will be sure to address them.
Make sure to check out http://thetunevault.com to see TuneVault in action!
DiSCLAIMER: Opinions are my own, and I have not proof read this. sorry for some mistakes and bad grammar. I will revise when I return back from my trip.

My mac crashed 2 weeks ago after a harddrive failure, and I lost all of my music purchases… I would really appreciate it if you could help me out, and let me get those back.
Thanks, looking forward to hearing all my good music again soon!

Greetings from iTunes Store customer support. My name is Rohit, I am here to help you today.
Tyler, I’m sorry to hear that your purchases are missing again. I looked at your account and saw that on 05/25/2007, the iTunes Store made an exception and allowed you to download your purchases again. However, because of your inclination towards music, I have decided to make a second—and final—exception for you.
Please note that Apple does not offer protection for the loss of data from your hard disk, so I recommend that you back up your iTunes library as soon as possible and thereafter on a regular basis.
Ringtones you purchased on your iPhone will be made available for you to download again as long as they are still available for sale on the iTunes Store and have not been modified.
Also note that any movies you may have rented will not be made available for you to download again. If you rented a movie and were unable to finish watching it, please reply to let me know.
Follow these steps to download the available items:
1) Make sure you’re using the latest version of iTunes. It can be downloaded free of charge from the iTunes website:
http://www.itunes.com/download
2) Open iTunes.
3) From the Store menu at the top, choose Check for Available Downloads.
4) Enter your account name and password, then click Check. Your purchases should begin downloading. If you receive an error message while downloading, try again after turning off any firewall or web-accelerator software that you may have installed.
If you want to pause your downloads and resume later, click Downloads on the left side of iTunes, then click the Pause All button in the lower right corner. When you’re ready to resume downloading, just choose “Check for Available Downloads” from the pull-down Store menu at the top, enter your account name and password, then click the Check button.
Fortunately, if you have an iPod or iPhone, and if you put any of these purchases on it, you can transfer them back to your computer using iTunes. You’ll find instructions in this article:

Tyler, if you have any other questions regarding your iTunes Store account, please let me know. Thank you for choosing the iTunes Store; we appreciate your business.
Have a great day!

Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!
Unless something drastic happens in the next month or so, then there is no need to worry. I will NEVER loose my music again! ;)
Thanks!

A lot of people have asked my opinion on Ping since its launch last week.
To sum it up in a few words: Ping has the POTENTIAL to be epic!
Music is social at its core. People are always sharing new songs they love, going to concerts together, and blasting their radios in the car. It is only natural for iTunes (the largest digital music retailer in the USA World) to have a service like this built in, and to be honest, it’s long overdue. I think that Ping will be an incredible tool for sharing and discovering new music with those you are close to, or influenced by.
I started my freshman year of college about 3 weeks ago, so the timing of Ping could not have been better for me personally. One of the things that I am most excited about is that I wont miss what music my friends (who are not around me anymore) are listening to. My little sisters (12 &15y/o) were super excited to hear about this service too. When I moved out a few weeks ago, one of the things they said they were going to miss was all the good music I turned them onto. By taking advantage of Ping, I feel like that will make up for that small loss.
I love me some Jobs!
